A payment was declined

A declined card doesn't cancel anyone's membership; it starts a quiet retry conversation.

If you're the member

The bank declined the charge: usually an expired card, a limit, or a fraud check. Your membership stays active while it's sorted. Update your card details from the billing section of your profile, or simply tell the front desk; they can retry the payment once the card is fixed.

If you're the owner

Failed payments surface on the Home briefing and the failed payments screen, with the amount owed per member. The retry button charges the open invoice again once the member has updated their card. Stripe also retries on its own schedule for a while before giving up.

When a trial ends

A declined first charge after a free trial reads the same way: the subscription shows as past due, not cancelled, and one successful retry puts everything back to normal.

The pattern that works

Mention it kindly at the desk, retry while they're standing there, done. Most "failed payments" are a new card that never got typed in.
