How children link to a parent account
The family portal has exactly one moving part: the guardian email on each child's member profile. Any MatPilot account that signs in with that email sees the child under My family, instantly, and across academies.
The guardian's account is theirs
A child never takes the guardian's login. Every child you enrol is a profile of their own, and the guardian's account stays the guardian's: their name on it, their email, and their own membership if they ever decide to train.
When you invite the first child on an address MatPilot has never seen, the guardian's login is created at that moment, carrying the guardian's name. The email that goes out is addressed to the parent and says which child it is about, because one parent with three kids needs three distinguishable emails.
Where the link gets created
- Front desk enrolment — the email you enter for an under-18 is treated as the parent's (enrolling a child at the front desk).
- Kiosk walk-in — the parent enters their own email and name during kiosk enrolment.
- The academy's join form — a parent signing their family up online gets their own account and a profile per child.
- Editing an existing member — the Guardian card on the member's profile sets or corrects the name and email at any time.
The rules worth knowing
- The link is verified against the live member record on every request: deleting or changing the guardian email cuts access immediately.
- Changing the email moves the child to the new parent's portal and removes the old one's access. Useful when parents separate, or a grandparent takes over the training runs.
- Only minors get links. An adult member with a leftover guardian email never exposes their data to anyone.
If the portal looks empty
The parent's sign-in email and the child's guardian email must match exactly. That is the first thing to check, see troubleshooting.
