Running a brand inside your academy
What a brand is
A brand is a second name your academy trades under, for some of its martial arts. Each brand has its own name, logo, colour and web address, with its own join, free trial and visit links.
Your members, timetable, staff, Stripe account, costs and payroll stay one academy. Somebody who trains in two brands is still one member on one bill.
- Each art belongs to one brand at most. Any art no brand takes stays the academy's own.
- A brand's address can't change once it's created, so links and QR codes you've shared keep working.
- Brands are archived, never deleted. Archiving gives the arts back to the academy and keeps the address reserved.
Creating a brand
- Go to Settings → Brands and tap New brand. Only the owner can do this.
- Type its name. MatPilot suggests a web address from it; change it now if you like.
- Add how it describes itself (for example "Studio"), a logo and a colour.
- Pick its martial arts and tap Create brand.
Sharing its links
Open the brand in Settings → Brands. Under Public address you'll find three links, each with Copy and Edit form:
- Join: new members sign up and pay, offered only the brand's plans.
- Free trial: someone books a free class in the brand's arts. The lead is marked with the brand.
- Visit: a drop-in signs the waiver and pays for one class.
Your timetable, prices and events pages work the same way: at the brand's address they show only its classes, plans and events, in its name and colours.
Giving a brand its own forms
To start with, a brand's links open your academy's forms, in the brand's name and colour, with only its plans and classes.
To change what a brand's form asks, tap Edit form next to it. Your first change makes it the brand's own form, and your academy's form stays exactly as it was. To undo it, tap Use [your academy]'s form again at the top of the brand's form.
Looking at one brand at a time
Owners, and managers who look after more than one brand, can narrow the whole app to one brand:
- Open the academy switcher at the top of the menu.
- Tap Brand: [name] to see only that brand.
- Tap the indented row with your academy's name to see only the academy's own arts.
- Tap your academy's name at the top to see everything again.
In a brand view, Home, Members, Leads, the Inbox, the timetable, events, plans, announcements, documents, recommendations, Finances and reports all show that brand only. It changes what you see, never what anyone can do.
Money by brand
In a brand view, Finances shows the brand's own money. A payment counts for what it paid for: a Yoga plan, pack, seminar or drop-in is the Yoga brand's. Anything covering more than one brand, like a plan for every art or a family paying for both, counts for the academy, so your brands and your academy always add up to the whole.
Costs, payouts and payroll aren't split by brand, so they only show when you look at the whole academy.
What your members see
A member who only trains and pays for a brand's arts sees the brand: its name and colour in the app, on emails and receipts, and on their bank statement. Everyone else sees your academy, as before.
