AI privacy and your gym's data
What data the AI sees
When you start a conversation, the AI is given a snapshot of your gym's context:
- Total member counts and belt distribution
- Active plans and subscriber counts
- Recent class activity
- Stripe revenue figures
- Members with failed payments (names and amounts)
The AI does not see:
- Member email addresses or phone numbers
- Payment card details, these never leave Stripe
- Individual member messages or private notes

Where AI processing happens
AI inference runs on AWS Bedrock, in the us-east-1 region, using Anthropic's Claude models. Your gym's data is sent to Bedrock only for the duration of the API call.
Data retention
AWS Bedrock does not use your prompts or responses to train its models. Conversation history is stored in MatPilot's own database (so you can scroll back through it) but is not shared onward with Anthropic or used for training.
GDPR
MatPilot is a data processor acting on your behalf. You remain the data controller. For GDPR purposes, the AI processing falls under your existing data processing agreement with MatPilot.
Turning off the AI
The AI co-pilot is available to all gym owners. There is no in-app toggle to disable it, but you simply don't need to use it, it only processes data when you actively start a conversation.
