Designing a poster for a seminar

The poster studio turns a seminar or a course into finished artwork for an Instagram post, a story, a landscape banner and an A4 print. It fills itself from the event, and every word, colour, photo and position is yours to change.

Open the studio

Go to Events, then Seminars (or Courses), open the event, and tap Create a poster.
It opens on the Post size with the first design already filled in. If you have made a poster for this event before, it opens on that one.

What fills in for you

Everything the poster needs comes from the event, so a first draft is ready before you touch anything:

The title, and the guest as the headline when a seminar has one. A course headlines its own title with the coach under it.
The date, time and place.
The price, in your academy's number format, and the member price under it when you have set one.
A QR code that opens the event's own page. There is no web address printed on the poster: the QR carries the link and keeps a small MatPilot mark in its centre so it always scans.

A saved poster stays tied to its event. If you change the date or the price on the event later, any field you have not edited by hand takes the new value the next time you open the poster, and the QR always points at the current page.

Four sizes, one poster

Pick the design you like, then move between the sizes with the tabs at the top. The words stay the same across all of them; only the layout adapts.

Post (1080 x 1350) for the Instagram or Facebook feed.
Story (1080 x 1920) for a story, full screen and tall.
Landscape (1200 x 630) for a website banner, a WhatsApp link preview or an email header.
A4 print for a PDF to pin on the wall or hand out at the desk.

Where a word sits is remembered per size. Moving the name on the story does not move it on the post, so you can tidy each one on its own without upsetting the others.

Choose a design

There are 24 designs down the left. Each is built for every size, so you are choosing a look, not a shape. A design paints with roles rather than fixed colours, which is why Colours can recolour the whole thing in one move.

Change the words

Double-click any text to retype it right on the poster.
Drag to move it, pull a corner to resize, and use the round knob above it to rotate. The arrow keys nudge whatever is selected a step at a time.
The size buttons grow the box along with the words, so a line that shrank to fit can be made bigger again.
A typo fixed once is fixed on every size, because the words are shared. Only the positions are kept per size.

Add a photo of the coach

Open Photos and add a picture of whoever is teaching. It is on the poster straight away, with an "Uploading" badge while it finishes in the background.
The Photos panel tells you, for the size you are on, whether that design draws the photo ("On the poster" or "Not on this template"). Where a design has no frame for it, Put it on the poster drops it in as your own picture layer that you can move and resize like anything else, so a photo you pick always lands somewhere.
A photo a browser cannot read (an iPhone HEIC opened in Chrome, for instance) is refused with a message rather than failing quietly. Pick a JPG or a PNG.

Colours, layers and the QR

Colours recolours the whole design at once, and the picker drags from the colour you are on rather than resetting to where it opened.
Layers hides or reorders anything on the poster.
The QR code can be switched off from Layers if you would rather point people to the event another way.

Undo, redo and shortcuts

Undo and redo cover every step, including a word you were part way through typing.

Ctrl or Cmd + Z to undo, add Shift to redo.
Ctrl or Cmd + D duplicates the selected layer, Delete removes it, and the arrow keys nudge it.

On a computer the tools sit in a rail beside the poster, with an inspector for whatever you have selected. On a phone each panel takes the screen and hands the poster back the moment you close it.

Saving and coming back

Your changes save on their own about a second after you stop, so there is no Save button to remember. A save waits while a photo is still uploading and runs again once it lands. Come back to the poster any time from the same event and pick up where you left off.

Export and share

Tap Export and choose a size: a PNG for the socials, a PDF for the A4 print. Save every size renders all four at once, each with its own progress. Every line of text is exported as an outline, so the poster reads exactly the same wherever you post it, whatever fonts that device happens to have.
