Ending a membership immediately

Ending a membership on the spot is the one action that steps over your own notice period. It is yours to use, and worth using rarely.

How

Member profile, Membership, Cancel, then End now.

The membership stops immediately. Access goes with it, and your refund setting decides what money goes back.

When it is the right call

  • A member is leaving the country this week and you have agreed to waive the notice.
  • A membership was created in error.
  • A safeguarding or conduct decision where the person should not be on the mats tomorrow.

When it is not

Do not use it as the quick way to process an ordinary leaver. Ordinary leavers should go through the request and confirmation, which applies your notice, lands on a billing boundary and leaves both sides a record of the dates. End now cuts a period the member has already paid for, and if your refund setting is Nothing they lose the balance of it.

The alternative

Choosing Under your policy instead applies the notice period the member agreed to, which may mean this period is their last or may mean one further payment. Either way the end date lands on a billing date.

Good to know

  • Ending immediately is recorded against your gym with who did it and when.
  • It cannot be undone by the Keep member button, because the membership is gone rather than winding down. Starting them again means assigning a plan.
