Refund on cancellation
The three settings
On My Academy, Money, Billing policy:
- Nothing. No money is returned. The member trains to the end of the period they paid for.
- Prorated. The unused part of the last payment is returned.
- Full. The whole of the last payment is returned.
When it actually applies
A normal cancellation ends on a billing boundary, so by the time it takes effect there is no unused time left to refund. The setting sits idle.
It bites when you end a membership immediately, which cuts a paid period short. That is the case where prorated or full make the difference between a clean parting and an argument.
What prorated means in money
A member pays 100 on the 1st for a 30 day month. You end their membership immediately on the 11th. Ten days are used, twenty are not, so a prorated refund returns about 67.
What comes back to you
Our platform fee on the refunded amount is returned to you in proportion. We do not keep a cut of money you have given back. The card processing fee is not returned, which is the processor's rule rather than ours.
Good to know
- Refunds are sent to the original payment method and typically take 5 to 10 working days to appear.
- Anything already due before the cancellation date is still due. A refund does not clear an unpaid invoice.
