Who can book a class: eligibility rules

A women-only class, a kids mat, a blue-belt-and-up sparring session: set it once and the app enforces it.

The Audience section

Every class form (new or edit) has an optional Audience section with three independent controls:

  • Gender: All, Women only, or Men only
  • Age range: a minimum and maximum age, for kids classes, teens, or masters
  • Minimum rank: from White up to Black, for advanced or sparring sessions

What members see

Members who don't match simply can't book: the class is filtered from their bookable schedule, and the kiosk applies the same rules at check-in. There's no awkward door conversation, the app already had it.

How age is decided

Age comes from the member's date of birth. Because DOB is optional, MatPilot is conservative: a member without one is treated as an adult, so they'll never slip into a kids class, and a kids-only class stays kids-only. The schedule's Adults / Kids filter chips use the same logic.

Good patterns

  • "BJJ for Women" with gender Women only
  • "Little Grapplers" with an age range of 5 to 12
  • "Advanced sparring" with minimum rank Blue
