1. App store ratings
The MatPilot app contains no objectionable content and is suitable for all ages:
- Apple App Store: Rated 4+ — no objectionable content.
- Google Play Store: Rated Everyone — suitable for all ages.
The app does not contain violence, adult content, gambling, or any material that would be
inappropriate for younger audiences.
2. Younger members
MatPilot gyms routinely manage members of all ages, including children and teenagers, as martial
arts is a family-inclusive sport. Younger members typically participate in the platform through
their academy:
- Gym operators can create and manage member profiles for members of any age.
- Before adding a minor to the platform, the operator should obtain consent from the minor's parent or legal guardian for data collection and processing.
- MatPilot provides per-member photo-consent controls to help operators record and track photo consent for minors.
- Operators should keep records of consent and make them available on request.
3. Academy operator duties
Operators who manage younger members carry safeguarding responsibilities in line with their
local regulations:
- Parental/guardian consent. Obtain and record consent before entering personal data relating to a minor, including name, date of birth, contact details, health notes, attendance records and photographs.
- Garda vetting (Ireland). Instructors and staff working with minors must hold current Garda vetting clearance under the National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 to 2016. MatPilot displays informational vetting badges in the staff section as a reminder; compliance is the operator's sole responsibility.
- Safeguarding policy. Operators should have a written safeguarding and child-protection policy in line with Sport Ireland or the relevant national governing body's guidelines.
- Emergency contacts. Maintain up-to-date emergency contact information for every minor member. MatPilot provides an emergency contacts field on each member profile.
- Appropriate communication. All communication through MatPilot should be professional and relevant to the member's academy participation.
The information above is provided as a practical aid, not legal advice. Consult a qualified
solicitor or your governing body's safeguarding officer for guidance specific to your situation.
4. Data & privacy
Personal data relating to younger members is entered by the operator (the gym), who acts as the
data controller for that data. MatPilot processes it only on the operator's
instruction.
If a parent or guardian believes their child's data has been entered without proper consent,
contact us at admin@matpilot.io and we will work with
the relevant operator to rectify or delete the record promptly.
For full details of how personal data is processed, retained and protected, please read our
Privacy Policy.
